NOAA Scientists Refuse To Comply With House Science Committee Subpoena

Rep Lamar SmithDespite receiving a subpoena from the House of Representatives, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) continues to defy the summons to explain itself regarding a controversial climate study it had released back in June.

An aide to the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology said the NOAA has refused to provide documents related to a report that suggested there has been no reduction in global warming rates, as was initially thought.

Most climate experts believe that global warming is caused by carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels.

Texas Rep. Lamar Smith, chairman of the House committee, said that they would make use all available tools to carry out its oversight activities on the environment agency.

“It was inconvenient for this administration that climate data has clearly showed no warming for the past two decades,” Smith said.

“The American people have every right to be suspicious when NOAA alters data to get the politically correct results they want and then refuses to reveal how those decisions were made.”

The House science committee chair added that the environment agency needs to tell the truth as to why it chose to alter the data to achieve the results it needed to promote the Obama administration’s drastic agenda on climate change.

He said the NOAA has not yet identified any legal basis for allowing documents regarding its study to be withheld.

Members of the Democratic Party and other experts on climate change have criticized Smith this week, accusing the committee chair of attacking researchers who release findings contrary to his own personal beliefs.

People close to the House science committee, however, claim that the ongoing investigation is crucial to its oversight efforts and that it is not designed to target climate scientists.

The committee’s subpoena requires all communications made by government officials regarding the NOAA climate report and its release to the public, not only the researchers who carried out the study.

Tom Karl, head of the NOAA’s environmental information centers, conducted the study on global warming. His report suggested that global warming rates in the past 15 years have occurred at a faster pace than the ones observed during the decades before the start of the 21st century.

I’d like to correct one sentence here: “Most climate experts believe that global warming is caused by carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels. It should read “Some climate experts…” And if Tom Karl’s statement is true, there was no global warming during the decades before the start of the 21st century since there has been no global warming during the past 15 years.

Why would it be necessary for the USA government
to subpoena information from it’s own agency ?
Pull a stunt like that in the private sector for your employer and it is grounds for dismissal with cause .

Hundreds of $$Billions of government spending is predicated on this “scientific ” information . Turn it over NOAA … and make sure the dog doesn’t eat it .

If the government has to reproduce it at a cost to tax payers those government employees stonewalling should be held liable for the costs and jail time if they have acted to defraud taxpayers .

The answer there is quite simple actually. The political party which owns NOAA is not the political party asking for the information…

Okay, we’ve seen this play out before…

    Just like Hillary…

Just like the IRS’s Josh Koskinen and Lois Lerner…

    Stall – Delay – Obfuscate – Deny… Buy time.

And then, Whoops! we lost all those emails! Shazam!
Oh well, That was so long ago… At this point, what difference does it make?! …Those evil Republicans!

Here is how things would work in the real world .
Chairman Smith calls NOAA Administrator Kathryn Sullivan .and says Good afternoon Kathryn it’s Lamar just sitting in my office enjoying a cup cake and looking down at the street . The same street your ass will be on if we don’t get all the information we politely requested by Monday . Have a super weekend . Click

It is fairly simple really any scientist that does not show ALL their work promptly and willingly is off the payroll . It’s kind of like having an accountant that can’t show how they balanced the books .

Imagine an accountant saying no… no that is the final number and I am withholding how I got it . See you pal, would be the last thing they heard as the door hits them on the ass on their way out.

Who owns NOAA data ? That’s right the people who paid for it …ALL of it .

Let’s see the job descriptions of the scientists who altered the numbers .

How convenient the Republicans have majority and maybe they should set the tone when bureaucrats tell them to take a hike. What is going on in the USA ?

Presidential candidates now need hedge fund billionaires to get them into office ? Hedge fund is the modern name for big time poker players who bet with other peoples money .

It’s actually fairly straight forward… scientists work or conclusions that can ‘t or won’t be demonstrated are not worth the paper they are written on . NOAA’s stuff is crap unless they prove it . It’s called the scientific method or more commonly know as basic honesty to most people .

If the NOAA Emails and data are already in someone’s hands and pieces of that information have disappeared at NOAA or there are gaps then
the last thing they would want is confirmation by releasing the information they did retain .

There is a reason and it must be considered worse than consequences of the current tactics.
It is obvious that NOAA and other climate agencies share information. If NOAA didn’t share their findings and related calculations of proof why not ?

The Climate Gate e mails demonstrate a small tight knit group of international climate specialists were openly disappointed when they could not demonstrate forecast model predictions of excessive global warming.
Did NOAA suddenly leave the other agencies spinning in the wind as they restated the global temperature estimates ? If they didn’t the information is in multiple hands .

What is NOAA so afraid of ? Would the rest of the international climate community want to attach their name to NOAA rewrites ? How could they if they have passed off their own work as being credible ?
