New York AG Tried To Cover Up Activist Involvement In Exxon Probe

AGs and ActivistsDemocratic attorneys general met behind the scenes with environmental activists during a meeting to discuss ways to go after oil giant ExxonMobil for allegedly misleading the public about global warming. And then they tried to cover it up.

The Daily Caller News Foundation obtained emails showing the New York attorney general’s office invited two prominent environmental activists to give presentations to a group of state prosecutors about “climate change litigation” and the “imperative of taking action now on climate change.”

Eco-activists gave these presentations behind closed doors the same day New York AG Eric Schneiderman was joined by more than a dozen other attorneys general and former Vice President Al Gore in condemning Exxon for “fraud” and “deceiving the American people.”

Emails also show Schneiderman’s staff told environmentalists coming to lecture state AGs on global warming to not confirm their attendance of the closed-door meetings.

“What should I say if she asks if I attended?” Matt Pawa, an activist lawyer who works with the Climate Accountability Institute and the Global Warming Legal Action Project, wrote to Lem Srolovic, who heads the New York Attorney General’s Environmental Protection Bureau in a March 2016 email.

“My ask is if you speak to the reporter, to not confirm that you attended or otherwise discuss the event,” Srolovic replied.

Pawa had apparently been asked if he was attending the March meeting by a Wall Street Journal reporter. Srolovic wanted to keep Pawa’s involvement on a need to know basis. Peter Frumhoff, director of science and policy at the Union of Concerned Scientists, was the other activist invited to attend the meeting.

“These emails show Schneiderman’s office suggested their outside-activist green allies deceive the press; meanwhile, AGs in his coalition have subpoenaed at least one policy group’s correspondence with the media,” David Schnare, general counsel with the Energy & Environment Legal Institute said in a statement.

E&E Legal obtained the emails through a public records request in the wake of U.S. Virgin Islands AG Claude Walker issuing a subpoena for 20 years of records from the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a libertarian think tank. Walker attended Schneiderman’s March meeting, where he announced his intention to investigate Exxon.

Schneiderman’s March meeting comes after the liberal AG launched an investigation into whether or not Exxon was accurately portraying to shareholders the risks global warming poses to the company’s operations.

Isn’t the first step in proving Exxon and others were withholding damaging information to put forth the damaging information they were supposedly withholding? I have not seen any convincing evidence of CO2 induced harm that is credible. Even the speculative “evidence” is incapable of showing present harm and wildly speculative on future harm. It seems to me that declaring these speculations to stockholders as reason for concern would be misleading. Basing company policy on them would be betraying their trust.

Until there is a penalty for collusion and the endless frivolous law suits the eco-left will continue this game. Using the taxpayer’s dollars to pursue these allegations made by political activists while providing trillions of dollars in grants for “scientists” who will only provide their desired results… The fix is in.

The global cooling scare of the 1970’s, was apparently supported with hard scientific evidence.
The media sold it . In fact we were told to be very scared (TIME ). This is but one example which demonstrates that so called experts are very often wrong . Is anyone going after those 1970’s experts ? How about the media that so grossly mislead people ? No ..they sold their crap
    mission accomplished .

Enter the computer era and a new toy ..climate models that get to produce
what ever the programmers want . Natural climate variables make an interesting cocktail so complex and poorly understood the models are nothing but speculation machines and have been demonstrated to be off from actual by 200% .

So if the supposed top climate scientists can’t yet produce reliable and scientifically sound information how is it that some state AG’s fronted by a non scientist scary global warming promoter think they have a legal right to go after companies because they ” should have known” ?
What a joke . NOAA recently started and is still “adjusting ” temperature data from satellites that showed virtually no warming in almost 20 years . Accurate records on a global scale clearly do not even exist and the best hope is from satellites that have had their own problems and are less than 30 years old .
The science isn’t settled it is in it’s infancy .

Let’s hope it is warming because we all know climate changes and cooling would
be far less beneficial to plants and animals . When did the scientists and global warming promoters know that . Why did they keep that fact away from the public ?

Yes humans have an impact on the climate and yes we should conserve energy but natural climate variables completely dwarf any miniscule human impact . If in some small way we add a bit of heat for a while ,well congratulations on behalf of all the plants and animals .

Human hypocrites can take care of them selves and all move to California if they aren’t already there .

AG’s lobby for ” United for Clean Power “. Translated into English… hang on to your wallets people .
These so called clean power projects aren’t so clean and they rely heavily on the tax payers to prop them up .
Do the names Solyndra and Sun Edison ring any bells . Hundreds of $$millions in tax payer grants, loan guarantees and Solyndra still flamed out . Sun Edison is drifting into penny stock territory . It’s share price falling from over $30 dollars in July 2015 to just over 30 cents this month .
The AG’s should not act as lobbyists for anything. Are they registered lobbyists ? Were they registered before their little dog and pony show with Al Gore . If not why do they still have jobs ? Aren’t the rules very clear and something an AG would be very familiar with ?

Amber noted that that NOAA has been changing historical data to support the climate change agenda. They are using tax payer dollars to alter data in order to support a political cause. The PMEL paper on ocean acidification is also a fraud in that they hid data that contradicted their conclusion. This is where the real fraud is.

The climate change movement had better be careful when they start advocating prosecution for fraud. Some within that movement are undeniably guilty of fraud.
