“Mini Ice Age is here to stay,” says astrophysicist

British Physicist and weatheraction.com front man, Piers Corbyn, issued a stark rebuke to climate alarmists who claim the 18-year-old pause in global warming won’t last.  “The mini ice age is here to stay!”

Illustrating his analysis of the data with deft graph work, Corbyn shows that in April 2017 temperatures in both the northern and southern hemispheres plunged dramatically last month. “The mini ice age is in a new phase and is here to stay for at least 20 years.”

Corbyn is not alone among respected international scientists who foresee a new era of ice and cold with inherent damaging impacts on world agriculture, disease, and political fallout.  The really obvious evidence is the dramatic absence of any sunspots in recent weeks.

The daily Berliner Kurier reports solar physicists at the ultra-warmist Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) are warning that Europe may be facing “a mini ice age” due to a possible protracted solar minimum.

The German-language Pravda TV site here published an article warning of an impending ice age. The article cites Yale scientist Wei Liu and a recent paper he published on the “overlooked possibility of a collapsed Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation“. Should the ocean heat conveyor collapse, then there would be “a prominent cooling over the northern North Atlantic and neighboring areas, sea ice increases over the Greenland-Iceland-Norwegian seas and to the south of Greenland.”

Russian Astrophysicist Dr. Habibullo Abdussamatov, who is the head of space research for the Pulkovo Observatory at the Russian Academy of Sciences, in a new study, claims the “new Little Ice Age” started at the end of 2015 due to low solar activity, kicking off decades of “deep cooling” in the latter half of the 21st Century.

It isn’t just a lack of sunspots that is causing scientists to worry. Earth is now in a period of increasing incoming galactic cosmic rays – these being the main factor for major volcanic activity. This usually causes an increase global cloud coverage which blocks more sunlight and promotes further cooling.  If it becomes colder along with more clouds then the risk is also of greater snow coverage. Such conditions were last seen during the Little Ice Age that ended around 1850, which coincided with the start of the Industrial Revolution. Until the thaw it was so cold England’s Thames river froze at least 23 separate times, with ice skating and “frost fairs” the norm.

The Pravda report summarizes Liu’s paper as follows:

CO2 has nothing to do with it, rather the influence of the sun is the dominant factor: fewer sunspots (Climate: solar physicists project global cooling (video)), weakening of the earth’s magnetic field, impact on the jet stream are decisive factors that can quickly lead our climate into an ice age (Scientists: Consensus 2016: the climate models are useless (Video)).”

Since the late 19th and through the 20th century  Earth has enjoyed an epoch of very high solar activity that is rare or unique in the context of the last several thousand years. The higher solar activity and warmer temperatures allowed the planet to briefly emerge from the colder periods of successive solar minima and “Little Ice Age”- an age of cooling that lasted from the 1300s to the Victorian era.

We were suppost to be having another Ice Age back in the 1970’s that same liberal rag TIME which was blabbering about Global Warming back in the 1990’s was blabbering about Global Cooling back in the 1970’s which proves TIM like the rest of the Main-stream news edia cant be trusted and are liars

” . . .new era of ice and cold with inherent damaging impacts on world agriculture, disease, and political fallout.” Wait a minute. Negative impacts to agriculture, disease, and political fallout are the results of global warming. There are hundreds of articles and experts saying so. Cooling should have the opposite effect!

This is a very good observation. The fact is warming has many beneficial effects especially for agriculture, while there is no doubt that cooling is harmful. To understand the contradiction one only needs to remember that according to the alarmists, anything bad that is happening or might happen is automatically blamed on man made global warming.

“TIME which was blabbering about Global Warming back in the 1990’s was blabbering about Global Cooling back in the 1970’s.”

The real tell was that they offered the same solutions for both. Deindustrialization of the west and a massive redistribution of wealth to the third world. At no point did they mention reducing total output. Socialism has never “solved” any environmental, or any problems. They only offer far worse “solutions”.

Spot on Amirlach! Socialism is always a “solution” looking for a problem. The crazy thing is socialism’s horrific record at solving anything. When the wall fell on the Soviet Union the extent of environmental destruction by socialists was laid bare for the entire world to see – from Lake Karachay to Chernobyl. Meanwhile, many Soviet communist leaders then re-branded themselves as “Greens” – saviors of the environment. Just incredible.

In the latest appropriation of language, modern American socialists now proclaim themselves as “social JUSTICE” warriors… Don’t let them use that language until they can first explain the “justice” in Stalin’s gulags, Mao’s reeducation camps, or Pol Pot’s killing fields. For socialists, history is a bitch.

I’m puzzled…..incoming galactic rays are a major factor for major volcanic activity? Anyone know the connection.?

The risk of a Mini Ice Age shows just how devastating liberals and environmentalist can be. Unlike warming, global cooling if it occurs could significantly cut agriculture production. It could be bad enough to cause the deaths of a few hundred million to a few billion people. Should the cooling hit, these deaths are avoidable. There are many ways we can prepare, such as developing agriculture in warmer climates and engineer plants and agriculture for colder weather. Instead, we are spending 1.5 trillion a year on fighting global warming so if the global cooling hits we will be unprepared.

You’re right – but the problems go far beyond agriculture production. One example is energy. The western world is shutting down efficient and low cost sources of energy (like coal-fired electricity plants for example). Gore/Pope Francis/ diCaprio etc all claim that the poor will be hardest hit by global warming. The poor will be hit far harder by those three personally, among others. They gave the poor far higher energy costs coming just at the time energy will be most needed.

Such ” cold climate” cultivars already exist. We grew a variety of early maturing tomatoes in the 1980’s, the genetics came from the Andes mountains. Plants evolve to survive at higher altitudes where it’s colder and the season is shorter.
Corn and soybeans can now be grown in western Canada. They weren’t via crops 20 years ago.

The losers in the main street media will be blaming Russia for “controlling ” the climate soon . I don’t see the Pope seeking advice from Mr.Trump on how to correct the moral short comings of a church . As they say those in glass houses ….
At least the Pope isn’t being driven around in an Escalade or Hummer .
