Liberal Watchdog Group Claims Trump’s EPA Illegally Lobbied Against Paris Climate Deal

A Democratic watchdog group claimed Thursday that EPA administrator Scott Pruitt illegally lobbied against the Paris climate accord before President Donald Trump eventually backed out of the non-binding agreement.

The American Democracy Legal Fund (ADLF) sent a letter to the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) complaining Pruitt violated an obscure lobbying law prohibiting federal agencies from spending taxpayer dollars before Congress can appropriate money. Federal employees are prohibited from lobbying to support or oppose any legislation.

Swiss Daily, German Scientist Slam Reporting of Antarctic Moss Findings… ‘An Abuse Of Science’

A commentary appearing here at the Swiss Baseler Zeitung (BAZ) slams a recently published British paper on moss growth in Antarctica that gave the impression the south polar continent was greening up due to climate change.

The BAZ writes that the paper is an example of “how today science is manipulated and used for political purposes“.

A team of scientists led by Dr. Matt Amesbury of the University of Exeter issued a press release claiming that Antarctica was “greening due to climate change.”

Study: Sea Level Rise Revised Downward

If I had not looked past the headline of the press report on a new study, I would have just filed it under “It’s worse than we thought”. A new study in Nature reported on July 17 carried the following headline:

“Satellite snafu masked true sea-level rise for decades”
“Revised tallies confirm that the rate of sea-level rise is accelerating as the Earth warms and ice sheets thaw.”

When I read that, I (like everyone else) assumed that corrections to the satellite sea level data since 1993 have now led to a revised trend toward faster (not slower) sea level rise. Right?

Wrong.

Clinton Campaign Never Bought ‘Carbon Offsets’ To Atone For Hillary’s Private Jet Rides

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton seems to have broken her promise to run a carbon neutral campaign by purchasing credits to offset all the carbon dioxide emitted from her private jet travel.

The Clinton campaign promised nearly two years ago to go carbon neutral after the former top diplomat was caught flying a private jet the same day she gave a speech on the dangers of man-made global warming.

Al Gore’s climate movie sequel ignores political reality

A lot has shifted in climate change issues over the last 11 years, but you might not be able to tell by watching former vice president Al Gore’s sequel to his 2006 Academy Award-winning “Inconvenient Truth.”

  • As one attendee told me after the film’s Wednesday night premiere in D.C.: “The film was an unusual combination of electoral self-deprecation and climate narcissism.”

Environmentalist ‘Sue And Settle’ Tactics Have Cost Taxpayers Millions, This Bill Could Stop It

Rep. Bill Huizenga

GOP Michigan Rep. Bill Huizenga testified before a House committee Wednesday on a bill that would restructure litigation rules under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) to reflect existing law in the Equal Access to Justice Act.

Huizenga’s bill, the “Endangered Species Litigation Reasonableness Act,” would prevent environmental groups from using “sue and settle” tactics to advance a political agenda while profiting off taxpayers through recompensed attorney fees for successful suits.

Why The Greens Are Dying Down Under

Richard Di Natale (center)

Australia: The Greens are on the way down, wounded by incompetence, the waning of the great scare they fostered and the growing evidence of the terrible cost of their policies.

The result:

A leaked internal analysis showing it is on track to lose three of its nine Senate seats, as it reels from the loss of two of its most popular [sic] senators.

Skepticism healthy for scientific inquiry

Energy Secretary Rick Perry did a remarkable thing a few weeks ago: he expressed skepticism about the causes of climate change in a TV interview, and even after widespread condemnation from environmentalists and the press, he did it again a few days later before a major Senate committee.

After telling a CNBC host on June 19 that he did not believe that carbon dioxide is the primary “control knob” for climate, Perry said, “this idea that science [of climate change] is just absolutely settled and if you don’t believe it’s settled then you’re somehow another Neanderthal, that is so inappropriate from my perspective. I think if you’re going to be a wise, intellectually-engaged person, being a skeptic about some of these issues is quite alright.”

Trump axes 860 Obama regulations, 179 from ‘secret’ list

White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney accused the Obama administration Thursday of keeping a “secret list” of proposed regulations during Mr. Obama’s eight-year regulatory onslaught against businesses, and touted President Trump’s rollback of more than 800 Obama-era rules and proposals.

Of the 860 rules or proposed rules that the Trump administration has killed, 179 came from what he called Mr. Obama’s “secret” list. As Trump aides combed through the books, they found pending proposals that included rules on hardwood plywood research and new requirements for contamination control in cattle slaughter operations.

Scientists Find At Least 75% Of The Earth Has Not Warmed In Recent Decades

The ‘Real Proxy’ Temperature Record Hints Near-Global Cooling Has Begun

As a new scientific paper (Turney et al., 2017) indicates, the Southern Ocean encompasses 14% of the Earth’s surface. And according to regional temperature measurements that have apparently not been subjected to warming “corrections” by data adjusters, the Southern Ocean has been cooling in recent decades.
